At the heartbeat of Jose Maria College of Medicine Foundation’s (JMCMF) establishment is Mindanao and its 30 million people. Thus, tailor-fitting its curriculum to the unique demographic, health and socio-cultural environment of the area. It is – to a large extent – influenced by the Universal Health Care Law that seeks to reform the health system by addressing the health needs of the Filipinos through an integrated and comprehensive approach. At the juncture of this groundbreaking law, the JMCMF seeks to co-create a health care model that provides all Filipinos access to a comprehensive set of quality, cost-effective, integrative, promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services.
Furthermore, JMCMF recognizes that new solutions are needed as the global and national health picture becomes more complex given the emerging and re-emerging communicable and non-communicable diseases, disaster, international transfer of pathogens and people and the widening disparities in health outcomes. Broadly, the health situation requires fresh thinking and a fresh approach in health professional’s education if there is to be any hope of achieving health by all.
In response, the JMCMF commits itself to produce graduates that are experts in the state-of-the-art in medicine imbued with the heart to serve.
